Vectis
This potential renewable energy scheme sits on agricultural land, immediately to the south of Wellow. The project will be known as Vectis Wind Farm, after the Roman name given to the Island back in the 1st /2nd century BC. We are looking to develop a wind farm…
- Consisting of five state-of-the-art quiet wind turbines measuring 100m to blade tip
- That has a maximum generating capacity of up to 12.5MW
- Which would prevent the emission of between 11,000-26,000 tonnes of C02 each year*
- …and power up to 6,400 homes each year*
The project could contribute to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions annually by replacing electricity supplied from coal and gas fired power stations. The wind farm would have an estimated lifetime of 20-25 years. After that time, the turbines can be decommissioned with minimum disturbance to the site. * Source: BWEA
